Ep 13: Food Allergies Cause Weight Gain Part 1
On this episode, Dr. Agolli & Dr. Burdette discuss how your food allergies can cause weight gain and what you can do to fix it.
A way to begin overcoming food allergies and sensitivities is to get tested for specific antibodies such as IgE, IgG, IgG4, and Complement. These tests can help determine if you have an allergy or sensitivity to certain foods.
After testing, the next step to overcoming food allergies and sensitivities is to try an elimination diet. This involves removing certain foods from your diet for a period of time and then gradually reintroducing them to see if symptoms return. This can help identify which foods are causing problems.
Desensitization is another approach that can be used to overcome food allergies. This involves gradually exposing the body to small amounts of the allergen over time to help the immune system build tolerance. This approach should only be done under the supervision of a doctor.
Whether or not you will be able to eat your favorite foods again in the future depends on the severity of your allergy or sensitivity and how well you respond to treatment. Some people may be able to reintroduce certain foods into their diet after a period of avoidance, while others may need to avoid certain foods permanently.
It’s important to work with a doctor to determine the best approach for managing your food allergies and sensitivities.
