Dr Joan Olubunmi Ifarinde, MD, MBA, FAAP
Joan Ifarinde, MD, MBA, FAAP, is an integrative functional medicine physician practicing at Progressive Medical Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
Dr. Ifarinde obtained her medical degree from the University of Ilorin in Nigeria in 1990. Prior to coming to the US, she completed her rotating internship at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital. She then went to Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, where she completed both her pediatric internship and residency (1996). She was board certified the same year. She has a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Management from Regis University, Colorado (2005). She obtained her certificate to offer office-based treatment of buprenorphine to patients in 2009 (helps patients get off narcotics). Her area of expertise also includes ADHD, anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorders.
She has been in practice since 1996. As a way of giving back to her professional community, she has mentored many medical students, residents, and student nurse practitioners throughout her career in pediatrics. At her previous employments, she has served as Clinical Instructor of Pediatrics; chaired and was instrumental in developing and running patient-focused pediatric, general, and buprenorphine practices. Presently she works at Progressive Medical Center, an integrative medical clinic, and performs pediatric care and wellness home visits for seniors.
She lives in Atlanta, Georgia. She is involved in her church, singing in the choir, and leading a high school girl’s group 1-2 times a month, which focuses on dealing with various hurts, hang-ups, and habits they may be struggling with. She loves to read, dance, and plays the piano and guitar.
