Cancer Immune System Support
Boosting Strength While Undergoing Chemo
We take an integrative approach and work in conjunction with patients that choose chemotherapy and/or radiation to assist with the toxic side effects. We work with patients to keep their immune system strong during this challenging time. Our goal is assisting patients to speed their recovery and retain their quality of life.
Cancers and their respective treatments often are described in confusing language. Anyone who has been diagnosed has had to learn the language to understand the situation in order to make informed decisions when necessary. On top of the emotional impact, the navigation of all these moving parts can be overwhelming.
We’re here to help every step of the way. We provide powerful treatment options to support your immune system that works synergistically with the traditional cancer therapies you receive from your oncologist. Our premise of integrative care is that cancer—as with most chronic diseases— is usually allowed to exist and progress as a result of immune dysfunction.
Integrative Medicine to Support Cancer Patients
Based on this belief, an integral objective of our cancer treatment programs will be to support your immune system. At Progressive Immune Recovery, we offer a myriad of alternative treatments like oxidative therapies, electromagnetic therapies, and acupuncture to augment traditional or fractionated chemo treatments. These therapies increase effectiveness while minimizing side effects.
These alternative therapies can also be used as stand-alone therapies. Our expert team can design a customized cancer care plan together with the patient and their family that builds whole body health, improves quality of life, and places the patient in the best possible position to conquer cancer.
Nutrition is a key component of our integrative approach. Food is medicine! Diet plans, coaching, supplementation treatment protocols, and nutrient-based IV therapies are strategically combined to empower the healing process.
“I initially came to Progressive looking for help with what I thought were multiple food allergies. I really liked all the staff there. What I thought were food allergies ended up being colon cancer. Progressive Medical saved my life!” Suzanne H.
What Does Integrative Cancer Care Look Like?
Step 1: Medical Consultation
The first visit with us includes meeting with our lead practitioner to evaluate all your medical conditions other than cancer and assess aspects of your history and present health which may interfere with optimal treatment for cancer. One emphasis of the evaluation will be on GI health, which we now know has impacts on all disease. Other things emphasized include adrenal (stress) and thyroid health, which greatly impacts cancer occurrence and treatment. Partnering with your oncologist, our team will make recommendations and discuss our integrative treatment options so you can make an informed decision.
Step 2: Naturopathic Physician Consultation
Meet with our oncology team and Naturopathic Doctor to help design a supplement program to support immune function and whole-body health (especially detoxification, GI health, and metabolic support).
Step 3: Nutrition Consultation
Meet with our team dietician to discuss how your nutrition plan is key to the cancer care program. Nutritional therapy can play a significant role in your cancer care. The dietician will also address food sensitivities and navigate you in making healthier food choices specific to you.
Step 4: Biomedical Consultation
Our biomedical department will introduce you to multiple treatment options, such as electromagnetic medicine, hyperbaric oxygen, exercise with oxygen therapy (Ewot); and vitamin C, curcumin, and Polymva IVs, that all work in support of the nutritional and conventional treatments. We’ll work with you to tailor the best options for your treatment.
Step 5: Meet with Your Patient Navigator
Your personal Patient Navigator will guide you each step of your treatment program. Your coach will be your point of contact for scheduling and mapping out your treatment routine, offering support, education, and encouragement!

Specialized Integrative Cancer Support Therapies
Progressive Medical Center offers many therapies that we can integrate into cancer support and care. Our cancer therapies complement traditional cancer treatments and focus on root cause medicine and immune support. In addition to focusing one other systems in the body to decrease inflammation and to increase immune support we spotlight several therapies that the research has found can be especially effective ways to support cancer treatments and patients.
High Dose Vitamin C IV Therapy
“Mounting evidence indicates that vitamin C has the potential to be a potent anti-cancer agent when administered intravenously and in high doses. Early phase clinical trials have confirmed safety and indicated efficacy of IVC in eradicating tumour cells of various cancer types.” and “Moreover, high-dose IVC is powerful as an adjuvant treatment for cancer, acting synergistically with many standard (chemo-) therapies, as well as a method for mitigating the toxic side-effects of chemotherapy.” (Böttger, et al, J Exp Clin Cancer Res. 2021). The American Cancer Institute is also enthusiastically investigating IV vitamin C therapy for future treatment protocols. So far, the evidence is excellent that holistic vitamin C IV therapy has a place in both cancer treatment and in supporting patients undergoing standard cancer care. Even for end-of-life cancer care, vitamin C seems to have something to offer: “In palliative care, high-dose VitC is currently gaining ground due to its highly safe and tolerable profile. Not only is high-dose VitC known to relieve pain in cancer patients vast clinical evidence suggests that it has a significant positive impact on patients’ well-being” (same source)
Not only does high dose vitamin C show promise for cancer specifically, it also supports immune function, detoxification, is an effective antioxidant and anti-inflammatory, can help fight infections of the skin and heal wounds, is thought to help protect against coronary artery disease, and can help ameliorate the effects of chronic fatigue.
So why a high dose vitamin C IV rather than just taking large amounts at home? The National Cancer Institute says that “When taken by IV infusion, vitamin C can reach higher levels in the blood than when the same amount is taken by mouth” and “In general, vitamin C given by IV infusion has caused very few side effects in clinical trials.”
Ewot (Excercise with oxygen therapy)
EWOT is a natural way to suffuse oxygen into your blood stream. Different than HBOT, exercise with oxygen therapy involves exercising while receiving a constant oxygen stream through the nose. Oxygen is absorbed more effectively while exercising. This allows your body to supercharge with oxygen. It involves breathing higher concentrations of oxygen (90% or above) during exercise to provide potential health benefits. For comparison, the air that we breathe contains 21% of oxygen. EWOT improves oxygen circulation and restores blood flow in the body. It also increases the production of ATP, which is the cell’s energy source.
The Warburg effect demonstrates why oxygen saturation is important to the body. Warburg showed that cells that were hypoxic (deprived of oxygen could turn cancerous. EWOT creates an oxygen-rich environment that people find helpful in recovery. In addition to helping eliminate hypoxia in the tissues, EWOT can help the body eliminate toxins which may help to minimize the toxic effects of treatments like chemotherapy and radiation therapy, and allow the body to recover more quickly.
EWOT also helps increase energy levels, which can be very challenging when you are recovering from cancer. Regular EWOT sessions can prevent muscle loss (sarcopenia) and help improve the immune system as well – all things that can help you feel normal again.
curcumin IV Therapy
Curcumin is a natural ingredient which comes from the spice turmeric. It has been used for centuries in Ayurvedic medicine to combat inflammation and for its antioxidant properties. It’s being explored as a cancer treatment in part because inflammation appears to play a role in cancer.
“Growing evidence showed that curcumin and its analogs exert numerous pharmacological properties, for instance, antioxidant, anti-inflammation, and anticancer properties. Of these properties, the anticancer activity of curcumin is known as one of the crucial effects of it. Many studies have demonstrated that curcumin… induces apoptosis and antiproliferative against several types of cancer cell lines including prostate, breast, colorectal, pancreatic, and kidney.” (Tan and Norhaizan, Molecules, July 2019)
Research is still continuing, but so far there is great promise for curcumin as an anti-cancer agent. For now, we know that it’s anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties can help the the body recover and assist in warding off infection while the immune system is suppressed. Some initial studies show that it appears to work well as a complementary therapy to chemotherapy and radiation for cancer:
“curcumin reduces the side effects of chemotherapy or radiotherapy, resulting in improving patients’ quality of life. A number of studies reported that, curcumin has increased patient survival time and decreased tumor markers’ level. (Mansouri, et al, BMC Cancer, 2020)
IV curcumin can safely increase the levels of curcuminoids in the body, enhancing support for your immune system, and helping to combat oxidative stress, which in turn can help control inflammation. Although supplemental curcumin in capsule form can also be beneficial, the concentrations and quick delivery that are possible through IV administration make it potentially much more effective. This is especially true since curcumin breaks down quickly in the body and quick delivery to where it is needed most is essential.
Pemf + Hyperbaric Oxygen chamber therapy
Progressive Medical Center also offers PEMF therapy combined with Hyperbaric Oxygen Chambers, which can supercharge HBOT therapy. PEMF, which stands for pulsed electromagnetic fields, has long been used by itself as a way to accelerate cellular repair and aid cellular function, both of which assist with healing. PEMF HBOT therapy combines Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy with pulsed electromagnetic fields to further aid healing. Research on PEMF therapy alone has demonstrated its effectiveness in treating a range of conditions, including chronic pain, osteoarthritis, and depression. When combined with HBOT, the combined therapies can complement each other:
- Pemf therapy can help improve blood flow and microcirculation, which can enhance the delivery of oxygen to tissues, which in turn can enhance the effectiveness of HBOT.
- Combining Pemf and HBOT can enhance their anti-inflammatory effects, which can be beneficial for conditions such as arthritis and chronic pain.
- Research has shown that PEMF therapy can accelerate bone and soft tissue healing. Adding HBOT can improve this process even further.
As a cancer support therapy, PEMF can help reduce inflammation. Similarly, hyperbaric oxygen therapy has been shown to reduce inflammation and promote healing in conditions such as diabetic ulcers and radiation-induced tissue damage. Combining these therapies may be especially beneficial for conditions where inflammation plays a major role, such as chronic pain, radiation therapy recovery, and cancer support for those undergoing chemotherapy.
poly mva iv therapy
The National Cancer Institute describes Poly MVA as “A proprietary water- and lipid-soluble polymer-based nutritional supplement composed of a complex mixture of alpha-lipoic acid bound to palladium (Palladium Lipoic Acid Complex (PdLA)) and other minerals, vitamins and amino acids, including vitamins B1, B2 and B12, formylmethionine, acetyl cysteine, and trace amounts of molybdinum, rhodium, and ruthenium, with potential anti-oxidant and cytoprotective activities.” (NCI).
Functional and integrative medical practitioners have used alpha-lipoic acid supplements for years as a safe and natural way to deliver antioxidants that combat free radicals to the body. Poly MVA supercharges that function by binding active ingredients from alpha-lipoic acid to trace metals and other vitamins. The delivery of powerful antioxidants is made even more efficient and effective by using an IV method of administration, which both means that a more concentrated safe dose can be used. The bonding of the ingredients to palladium lengthens the effective time that the dose is in the body, and using an IV administration means that you further prolong the effectiveness of the antioxidants while quickly delivering them to where they are needed in the body.
The National Cancer Institute explains that “This could protect non-cancerous cells from the oxidative damage caused by radiation and chemotherapy. In addition, in the hypoxic conditions found within tumors, the excess electrons can generate free radicals within mitochondria and could induce both cytochrome c release and apoptosis.”
